Shant Ayanian, MD, MS

Dr. Shant Ayanian is an academic hospitalist and data scientist focused on applying advanced analytics to improve clinical care. After completing internal medicine residency, he earned two master’s degrees to strengthen his research expertise. He has led projects in AI, data modeling, and bioinformatics, and previously served as Director of Informatics and Quality at The George Washington University.

At Mayo Clinic, he served as a ward medical director and currently acts as Associate Chair of Inpatient Medicine. As a recipient of a Mayo Clinic Generative AI Program grant, he is developing transformer models to analyze genetic data across diseases. Dr. Ayanian combines clinical insight with technical expertise to advance personalized medicine through data-driven innovation.
