Donna R. Cryer, JD

Donna R. Cryer, JD is Chief Patient Officer of CryerHealth, LLC, where she advises biopharmaceutical companies, technology firms, and health systems on patient engagement, digital health, and AI governance. She is a two-time founder and a 30-year liver transplant recipient.

Her clinical research and regulatory credentials include past service on the Executive Committee of the Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative (CTTI) and as an FDA Patient Representative. She is a founding member of the Rare Disease Diversity Coalition and founded and built the Global Liver Institute, training patient advocates in U.S. and European drug development and health technology assessment through its Advanced Advocacy Academy (A3).

In digital health policy, she was appointed by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) to the federal Health IT Policy Committee as the advocate for patients and consumers, having previously served on the Committee’s Privacy and Security Workgroup, which shaped national policy on health data privacy, security, and exchange. She has advised Google Health and PathAI, the Boston-based company applying artificial intelligence to pathology to improve diagnostic accuracy and accelerate drug development, now being acquired by Roche in a deal valued at up to $1.05 billion.

Her board service includes the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS) and Sibley Memorial Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Donna holds an A.B. from Harvard College, a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, and a Certificate in Healthcare AI from MIT.
